suriname5-waterkant02CRCP2014 is held under the auspices of CANPA, the Caribbean Alliance of National Psychoogical Associations. It is hosted by the Suriname Association of Psychologists and Special Educators (SVPO), and is organized locally by OrgaNice.

The conference theme, "Caribbean Psychology: Unmasking the Past and Claiming Our Future," reflects an acknowledgement of psychology as a product of time and place. The Caribbean is a region where collective and individual psychological functioning reflects our social cultural origins, history, geography, climate and natural resources, and given our particular socio-political circumstances on the global sphere. Psychological science is in a unique position to apply scholarly expertise to "give voice" to address social and behavioural issues, and to promote just and ethical policies, education, and solutions based on sound science and grounded in our culture as diverse Caribbean peoples.
