Travel Grant for Students / Early Career Professionals

Travel Grant Submission Deadline: July 23, 2021 (11:59 pm EDT)

The Early Scholars Committee is accepting travel grant applications for the upcoming 2020+ Caribbean Regional Psychology Conference hosted in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, November 15-19, 2021.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this travel grant, interested candidates must meet the following criteria:

Students

    • Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate level-program in psychology or a related discipline.
    • Be natives of the Caribbean either living in the Caribbean or residing in the diaspora or have a commitment to learning more about Caribbean psychology.
    • Demonstrate significant financial need.

Early Career Professionals 

    • Professionals in the first ten years after undergraduate/graduate graduation.
    • Be natives of the Caribbean either living in the Caribbean or residing in the diaspora; or have a commitment to learning more about Caribbean psychology.

Scoring 

A committee of your peers will score the applications using the criteria specified below

Priority will be given to students who meet the following criteria:

  • Are natives of the Caribbean either living in the Caribbean or residing in the diaspora.
  • Have been accepted to present at this conference (proof of acceptance is required).
  • Are first or second authors on accepted presentations.
  • Demonstrate significant financial need.
  • Articulate the professional benefit of attending this conference.

Priority will be given to early career professionals who meet the following criteria:

  • Are natives of the Caribbean either living in the Caribbean or residing in the diaspora.
  • Have been accepted to present at the conference (proof of acceptance is required).
  • Are first or second authors on accepted presentations.
  • Have demonstrated professional expertise in Caribbean psychology.
  • Articulate the professional benefit of attending this conference.

Travel awards will cover expenses up to $500 and will be based on need. Funding is in the form of reimbursement for expenses–including travel, registration fees, and housing.  Applicants are asked to provide or estimate their expenses on their application.  If you are approved for the award, original receipts are necessary for reimbursement.  

Applicants will be notified if they have been approved for funding by September 15th, 2021.
