CANPA is governed by its General Assembly, which is composed of delegates from National Association Members and the Unaffiliated Regional Member Group. The General Assembly elects an Executive Council, which implements directives from the General Assembly. The General Assembly establishes standing Committees to carry out regular activities of the Alliance.

CANPA governance is advised by a Council of Presidents and Elders, consisting of the Presidents of National Association Members and other senior psychologists from the region. The Council of Presidents and Elders is apppointed by the Executive Council with ratification by the General Assembly.
